Model Service Society · Youth Wing

Where young people learn to lead.

MSS Youth Wing runs structured programmes for students in the UAE: reading, public speaking, entrepreneurship and work experience. Registration for 2027 is now open.

How it works

Each programme has its own path.

Reading Challenge

  1. Step 01

    Register

Register free. Your age places you in the 12 and under or the 13 and over group.

  2. Step 02

    Choose a genre each week

Six genres are available. Your choice is fixed for the week, and no genre can be repeated.

  3. Step 03

    Read on the site

Each shelf holds five to eight classic titles. Reading time is recorded while a book is open.

  4. Step 04

    Earn your certificate

Read in all four weeks to receive a certificate. Bonus days, 29 – 31 January, count towards the leaderboard.

  2. Step 02

    Selection

The programme team reviews every application and selects one hundred participants.

  3. Step 03

    Train every month

One in-person session a month, a personal mentor, four levels and private practice videos with feedback.

  4. Step 04

    Final showcase

The year closes with a public showcase where each speaker delivers the talk they have developed.

Frequently asked questions

Who can take part?

The Reading Challenge is open to all ages, with separate rankings for ages 12 and under and 13 and over. 100 Public Speakers is for students aged 13 and over. Internships are for students aged 16 and over. Eligibility for MSS Shark Tank will be announced.

Do I need to join through a school or as a team?

No. Everyone registers and participates as an individual.

Is there a fee?

Registering and taking part in the Reading Challenge are free. Any costs for other programmes will be stated clearly before you apply.

I am under 18. Can I register?

Yes. Add the name and email address of a parent or guardian when you register. We will ask them to confirm before your student account is activated.

How is reading time recorded?

A timer runs while a book is open on screen. It pauses automatically when you switch tabs, and you can pause it yourself at any time.

Can I change my genre during the week?

No. Once a genre is chosen for the week it is fixed, and each genre can be chosen only once during the month.

How do I earn the Reading Challenge certificate?

Read in each of the four weeks. Reading on the bonus days, 29 – 31 January, counts towards the leaderboard.

Who can see speaker profiles and videos?

Profiles and practice videos are visible only to the programme's trainers and mentors.

When will MSS Shark Tank and internships open?

Dates will be published on this site. Register your interest and we will email you as soon as they open.
